FAA and JAA Level D Certified Display Solution

C-Series Displays are designed for high-quality research, evaluation and training applications. They deliver out-of-the-window scenes with high-resolution, low distortion and large depth of field. Viewing angles of 180°-220° horizontally by 40°-60° vertically are available.

C-Series ConceptC™ Collimated Display system incorporates the latest technology and offers improved display performance over the traditional supply with lower cost of ownership at a more competitive price.

C-Series Displays comprise a number of high-resolution projectors located above the cockpit (see graphic below). The projectors use blending techniques to ensure seamless transitions between adjacent channels. Images are displayed on a spherical back-projection screen and are viewed from the cockpit by looking into a collimating mirror. Because of the arrangement of mirror and screen, the images from the projector are focussed close to optical infinity and have the correct perspective when viewed from the cockpit. Cross-cockpit views are possible because the optical system has a large exit pupil. This means that both trainees see the same collimated image. Typical applications include both fixed-wing civil and transport aircraft as well as rotary-wing aircraft.

Display equipment is discretely located, invisible from the cockpit and the whole arrangement is blacked out to ensure high image contrast and quality. Projectors and other optics used with motion platforms are ruggedised to ensure image stability. The complete structure for each specific configuration is also subject to a finite element structural analysis (FEA) in conjunction with the motion platform design.

C-Series Displays are designed to be compliant with FAA and JAA Level D requirements for simulation certification.

C-Series ConceptC™ is based on Contour™ digital projection combined with Equipe ProMap™ geometry mapping, blending and shading system. This unique combination offers the best cost / performance combination available and has the inherent advantage of very high alignment stability. Once installed, alignment performed through the remote handset, is only necessary on changing of major system components.

ConceptC™ is lighter than traditional designs due to use of Contour™ projection technology and incorporation of all projectors inside the cabin area for ease of maintenance access.
